Work History

Aged Care Worker

RSLLifeCare Thomas Eccles Gardens
11.2001 - Current
  • I built strong relationships with vulnerable residents to deliver emotional support and companionship. Work was always challenging but I made a difference in their lives and contributed to their social wellbeing. I did this by being helpful, courteous and willing to help them with any problems involving their daily living needs.
  • I was responsible for approximately 42 residents on each shift.
  • I assisted residents in maintaining self-esteem and general wellness.
  • I got to know residents by building respectful and professional relationships to understand what is important to them
  • I was medically competent to administer medications.
  • I ordered replacement medications from the pharmacy and reported and documented any discrepancies.
  • I updated the Registered Nurse in charge by keeping them up to date with any changes in residents' care and completing all necessary progress notes for them to use.
  • I used various systems to document and do mandatory reporting.
  • I enjoyed assisting residents in the dementia-specific unit by contributing to their social well-being. I did this by reading their care plans and using their personal experiences to talk to them and understand their specific behaviours.
  • For ten years I assisted two days per week in the administration of the facility. I worked at the front desk.
  • My duties included customer service. I spoke with doctors, family members, residents, support staff, outside contractors, various departments at our head office in Sydney, staff and volunteers.
  • I worked with different office systems when I invoiced residents and when I attended to quotes and invoices from outside contractors.
  • I operated a different system for resident discharges, admissions and overnight absences.
  • I dealt with the banking and communicated with the head office accounting and finance section.
  • I updated staff files and liaised with the Sydney office to assist with all staff queries at work in TEG.
  • I followed the relevant Standards and Guidelines.
  • I attended and completed all mandatory education programmes, including completing competencies and undertaking professional development with agreed timeframes to improve and maintain my skills.

Client Service Assistant

Australian Taxation Office
06.1989 - 06.1999

I worked in the records department followed by over 12 months in Audit. For the last seven years, I worked in the Child Support Agency.

  • I worked in the 'Departure from Review' section in the Child Support Agency
  • I provided support and administrative assistance to one of three Review Officers (lawyers) who dealt with requested changes to the child support payments either by the payee or payer
  • I had daily oral and written communications with clients explaining processes to them and answering all their queries.
  • I forwarded correspondence to payees and payers involved in the child support request for changes to the assessment.
  • I scheduled appointments in person or by phone for review officers between the payees and the payers of child support. I ensured all documentation was received by all parties prior to these appointments.
  • I updated changes to child support assessments via the various computing systems.
  • I took phone calls for assistance from clients, solicitors and other support groups and completed follow-up action.
  • As part of my duties, I ensured that my lawyer was not overwhelmed with more complex cases by giving them easier ones to handle as well.
