I am a skilled and highly committed professional, with over 33 years of experience in the operational, financial, managerial and leadership aspects of humanitarian mine action in challenging environments such as Afghanistan, Somalia and Sudan. I began working in the sector as a deminer in Afghanistan in 1989 and have occupied various roles since then, such as the Director of the Mine Action Coordination Centre of Afghanistan, overseeing one of the largest and longest-running mine action programmes in the world. Humanitarian Mine Action Project Manager in Somalia and currently Chief Mine Action Programme for UNMAS Sudan in Khartoum. I have in-depth knowledge of all pillars of mine action and specialise in strategic planning, programme and project design and implementation and capacity development of national institutions. As a result of being a member of the IMAS Review Board and GICHD's Advisory Board, I have gained knowledge of International Mine Action Standards, land release, quality management and other aspects of mine action.
