With over 10 years of aviation experience, I am currently working as a Senior Financial Accountant at Nauru Airlines, directly reporting to CFO. Considering myself as a go to person in Financial and revenue accounting areas. Worked on providing charter quotes for both pax and freighter aircrafts, and also working with all business leads on their area costs and expenses approvals (Ground Ops, OCC, CAMO, Engineering, Safety, and Reservations). Involved in compiling direct cost of operations for aircraft heavy maintenance. Working on new Software implementation projects for Finance.


In addition, I have worked for Fiji Airways Ltd, one of the largest companies in Fiji from 2013 to 2018. Over the course of my employment history, I have carried out multiple roles in Revenue Accounting team, Financial Accounting Team as well as in Engineering administration team. I had prepared reconciliations for several assets and liability accounts; identified and resolved errors. I was also involved in mentoring new staffs. I have also attended the Intermediate and Advanced Excel training. I also have a certificate in Fare Construction. I am well versed with MYOB, XERO, Epicor and Oracle – Rapid software.

Financial Accountant

Key responsibility as a Financial Accountant included:

  • Supervise Accounts Payable Team, Accounts Receivable and Our travel
  • Prepare weekly Cash Flow

Revenue Accounts Assistant (Sales Accounting Team)

Key responsibility as a Revenue Accounts Assistant included:

  • Investigating and Accounting of Fiji Airways Group Chargebacks – liaising with international banks such as National Australia Bank, Westpac, and ANZ
  • Revaluation and Reconciliation of assets accounts (debtors clearing accounts); and highlighting of potential risks and highlight any incorrect sales processing.
  • Preparation of airline tax submissions and payments to international authorities.
  • Conducting audits of fares and taxes, identifying, and investigating discrepancies together with raising Agency Debit Memos.
  • General ledger reconciliations – Foreign/Multicurrency accounts and accounting of Exchange differences.

Achievements

  • Created a detailed documentation of the Chargeback process and tax payment process. This acted as a guideline to the work process and allowed other staff plus newcomers to carry on with the tasks without any supervision.
  • Created a detailed documentation for reconciliation process for both natural and multicurrency accounts.
  • Worked with Treasury team to set Pre-defines in a manner that it reflected the actual details of banking as it appeared in banks statement so that the time taken in doing reconciliations are reduced.
  • Sent a memo to all the stations to ensure that the narrations of deposits included the sale report number, station code and date of sale report.
  • Designed a Discrepancy report and this allowed the discrepancies in banking/billing to be triggered instantly. Any risks could be identified easily. Also, the missing sequence of serialized documents could be identified immediately, and this prevented the loss of revenue.
