AASW accredited Social Worker with over seven years direct counselling and therapeutic work experience with individuals, families and couples. I use my creative and critical thinking skills to inform my dynamic, holistic approach to supporting people in trauma recovery, guided by my values of social justice, authenticity, and collaboration, along with ongoing training in various psychotherapy and counselling modalities.
My therapeutic skills are complimented by my expertise in policy writing and consulting, program development and workshop/training facilitation, demonstrating innovation in enhancing service delivery and client outcomes. Skilled in leadership, advocacy and stakeholder engagement, with a strong focus on anti-oppressive and trauma informed practice.
I currently work part time as a Social Work university tutor and prior to Social Work I was a program coordinator and team leader in out of school hours care.
My substantive role was a pilot program providing 1:1 and family counselling, advocacy and therapeutic casework support to trans and gender diverse young people and their families. Worked in a multi-disciplinary, multi-agency team to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people experiencing homelessness and mental health stress in the northern area of Melbourne. My role included counselling, clinical mental health assessment and treatment, as well as day to day support and advocacy/case work via an assertive outreach model.
Started as a case manager at Homefront Women's Crisis Accomodation and was seconded to a solo worker program providing assertive outreach, case management and counselling to women sleeping rough in the St Kilda area.
This position was supported by external supervision. Additional responsibilities included quarterly reports, budget management and funding applications.
