A dedicated 3rd year Bachelor of Counselling student looking forward to actively engaging in the future field of counselling to improve and assist in the mental health of my clients, especially in supporting those in my local and marginalised communities. For ease you can call me Zaq, I'm from a multicultural community in South-East Asia, migrating with a large family about 10 years ago. I recognise the importance of acceptance, cultural differences, developing emotions and what it means to take care of others. I value family, respect, self-empowerment and advocacy for mental health in everyone.
I'm confident in my technical psychotherapeutic skills, client-focused sessions and philosophical and religious approaches in life. I extensively studied adolescent and children's therapy in my 2nd year and covered practices, techniques, responses when working with young people, including high risk assessments and their wellbeing.
I've also studied in collaboration with others in self-development, self-care and compassion practices, which will be crucial in working with client's self-autonomy. Then building positive relationships in couples and family dynamics.
