The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is an international financial institution which offers investment, advisory, and asset management services to encourage private sector development in developing countries. The IFC is a member of the World Bank Group and is headquartered in Washington, D.C., United States. iDesk is a single integrated repository for all project and partner data. It is an electronic workspace, which provides secure access to corporate resources and applications, and serves as a one-stop-shop for project processing in the corporation.

iDesk has the subsystems like:

1. GTFP: Global Trade finance program application which is a platform to issue Guarantees/loans transaction towards the global trade and robust credit monitoring. It has automated process of integration to existing IFC systems, including real-time data feeds and interfaces with the SWIFT, ACBS and iDesk.

2. CRR: Part of iDesk system where in we calculate the credit risk rating of every project associated with the IFC before issuing the loan.

3. FMS(Fund Management System): FMS handles the fund transaction from IFC to different projects and partners. The fund transaction is decided by CRR rating of every particular customer.

DMS (Director Management system): This system implements the new Directorship policies on memberships in corporate boards and fund committees.

The Cardinal business unit provides an Instrument Management System called IMPRESS to their customers as a value-added service. The Impress application is a web-based application used by the hospitals. The application architecture involves a .Net layered component design consistent with the Microsoft reference architecture. The three physical tiers will consist of a web/application server and a database server. The hospitals system used to manage purchase requests and ordering. An interface between IMPRESS and the purchasing system allows purchase requisitions generated within IMPRESS to be sent to the purchasing system. An interface between IMPRESS SCAN and the sterilization system would allow users to automatically transfer load information from IMPRESS SCAN to the sterilizer and capture the sterilization parameters when the sterilization cycle has completed. IMPRESS SCAN application has a barcode scanner attached to a workstation running Impress used to identify items to Impress by scanning barcode labels that have been place on items. The current application architecture supports both scaling the application up and out. The physical architecture for the hosted solution is designed to provide high availability, which also provides the ease of scaling out at every tier.

  • · The offline application is developed in VB6.0, XML, XSLT and MS ACCESS.
  • · VB application captures and validates the data. Application data are formatted to a XML string. Crystal Report is used to print the application data to soft and hard copies.
  • · Web Service is used to transform the XML string to the Mid-Tier Server.
  • · A multi-threaded Scheduler in the Server validates the data in the XML. If the data are invalid then the Mid-Tier sends a notification to the user. If the XML is valid then it is stored in the SQL database.
  • · XSLT's are used to transform the data in the XML. The transformed data is given to the Mainframe system for further processing.
  • · Online application is developed in ASP, JavaScript, VBScript and XSLT.
  • ASP screen provides the functionality of tracking the application status and for querying the information using a mainframe based system 'CASE'Design of VB screens

  • · Security has been implemented using COM+ roles.
  • · The Data Centric Component handles database related business logic like calling Stored Procedures and establishing Connections. This component is state less and is placed under COM+ for Object Pooling and Scalability.
  • · Data Centric layer handles the report generation. Reports are generated using Crystal Reports 8.0
  • · The User Centric Component. State Information is stored in the User Centric Layer. This resides in the client’s machine
  • · Crystal Reports 8.0 is used as the reporting tool. Acrobat Reader is used for viewing & printing reports.
