Work History

Graduate Process Engineer

Whitehaven Coal
04.2024 - Current
  • Embedded with the integration team, involved in setting up a stopgap system for the Coal Tracking System (CTS) software to improve logistics, blending, and coal quality tracking.
  • Radiation Safety Officer (RSO): Conducting monthly radiation safety and compliance inspections
  • Consumables Consumption Reduction Project (Ongoing): Leading a two-pronged initiative to reduce magnetite consumption
  • Spirals Improvement Project (Ongoing): Leading efforts to improve spirals by developing a spirals Feed Calculator to analyze feed characteristics, followed by sampling spirals at different splitter settings
  • Process Improvement Projects: Implementing improvements across various operations and equipment including FC distribution box, magnetic separators, spirals, and the DMC Spigot change-out process
  • Metallurgical Accounting and Balances: Conducting metallurgical balances to optimize processing operations and troubleshoot issues that arise

Graduate Process Engineer

Whitehaven Coal
03.2023 - 03.2024
  • Debottlenecking project - Took a secondary and primary role in the final stages of commissioning the Tailings Manifold, and Secondary Flocculation System respectively
  • The latter was commissioned independently
  • The project led to an increase in theoretical feed rate from 250tph to 480tph, & a practical feed rate to 350tph
  • Partook in the development of the control philosophy of the Tailings Manifold to ensure safety of personnel, plant and equipment
  • Laboratory Tests – Jar Tests conducted to troubleshoot thickener settling rates and reagent dosage rates
  • Logistics and Coal Quality – Forecasted stockpiles and planned railings efficiently to ensure consistent plant operations
  • Improved existing Coal Blending model leading to increased accurate coal blend ash estimates

Minerals Processing Engineer

Hatch
11.2022 - 02.2023
  • Order of Magnitude Study – Ran 60+ Simulations on 3 separate flotation flowsheets on JKSimFlot forecasting yield, concentrate grade and recovery for 50 years of processing Rio Tinto’s Oyu Tolgoi copper-gold facility in Mongolia. Excel was used to process data
  • Developed Macros to reduce repeated manual steps in simulations. This led to increased efficiency in producing accurate simulations
  • Recommendations were made to client to reduce recovery rates so as to maintain smelter grade requirements
  • Reviewed Olympic Dam’s Flotation Air Blower P&IDs
  • Made recommendations for the 2024 Olympic Dam Flotation Circuit Upgrades
