Summary

I am a 31 year old professional who has been a member of the Royal Australian Air Force since 2015. During these 9 years I have climbed the ranks from low level administration to leading a team within a personnel management position. As well as this, nearly 4 years ago I started a small handmade business, Wurrumay Collective. Through my business I am able to share my First Nations Culture and history, I also sell luxury products for the home and body and on occasion provide workshops for First Nations craft, candles and cultural mentoring. I am a mum of 3 boys and am very passionate about a safe and happy family environment for my kids.

I am a dependable professional with a track record of success within my business and RAAF career. I have an attention to detail and proactive mindset and constantly am seeking opportunities to improve processes and workflows for my teams benefit. I am conscientious, hardworking and excels at multitasking in fast-paced environments.

I am currently studying a bachelor of business at UNSW here in Canberra.

As a Personnel Capability Officer in the Royal Australian Air Force, I am responsible for ensuring that the RAAF's human resources are effectively managed and aligned with operational needs. My day to day looks like:

Personnel Management and Support: My primary responsibility involves managing personnel-related tasks, including processing enlistments, transfers, and separations. I ensure that all personnel records are accurately maintained and updated in compliance with RAAF and Australian Defence Force (ADF) policies.

Workforce Planning and Analysis:I conduct detailed analyses of personnel data to support strategic workforce planning. This includes identifying trends, forecasting future needs, and providing recommendations to address staffing challenges or opportunities. My analysis helps in shaping policies and procedures to enhance workforce efficiency and effectiveness.

Training and Development Coordination: I play a key role in coordinating training and professional development programs for RAAF personnel. This involves working with training institutions and units to identify needs, schedule courses, and track progress. My goal is to ensure that personnel acquire the necessary skills and qualifications to excel in their roles and meet operational requirements.

Policy Implementation and Compliance: Implementing and ensuring compliance with personnel policies and procedures is a significant part of my job, particularly within the last 3 years where I created a full First Nations Cultural Awareness Package for all of Air Force. I assist in the development and revision of policies to reflect current best practices and regulatory changes. I also conduct audits and reviews to ensure that procedures are being followed correctly.

Operational Support and Deployment: I support operational units by managing personnel assignments and deployments. This involves coordinating with various units to ensure that the right personnel are available and ready for specific missions or exercises. I also address any issues that arise during deployments, ensuring smooth transitions and support.

Employee Relations and Support:I provide guidance and support to personnel regarding career development, performance issues, and other employment-related matters. My role includes mediating conflicts, addressing grievances, and offering advice on career progression and opportunities within the RAAF.

Reporting and Documentation: Preparing reports and maintaining documentation on personnel matters is a critical aspect of my role. I generate reports on various metrics, such as personnel readiness, training completion rates, and policy compliance, providing valuable insights for senior leadership.

Prior to commissioning to an Officer I was the lead of First Nations Cultural Awareness and developed a strategy and full cultural awareness package which is now delivered nation wide to all new members of the RAAF. I had a small team and was responsible for their day to day operations
