Summary

  • My goal is to become a fully qualified carpenter. I was enrolled in a design and construction course at Montrose Bay High School called Packages of Learning which I completed in 2022. My learning is structured around a career in construction.
  • Since leaving High school I had gained an apprenticeship as a carpenter but unfortunately the company I was working with didn't have enough on going work to be able to keep myself employed. During my time at Buildit I have developed a wide array of skills such as
  • Teamwork, building different projects in a team
  • Fast learning
  • Communication, talking to others and sharing ideas
  • Listener, comprehending orders and suggestions
  • I enjoy working with timber and I am eager to learn and do whatever it takes to become a qualified Carpenter.

Work Experience

I have been working at Buildit for about 2.5 years. During my time there I have been involved in many projects from house and unit construction, building decks, installing floor systems, and preparing and pouring concrete slabs. I have my licence and a reliable ute with a builders trailer with all the tools I need to preform my day to day tasks.

At school i completed in a course designed to specifically develop workshop skills, including landscaping, panelling, grinding, measurement, working with tools (such as hammer, jigsaw, saw, drill, etc), shed building, and deck building. I have also been on work placement with Action Builders so that has given me real experience in the trade industry. Throughout my school program I have built picnic tables, trophies (for a local hockey club), metal garden beds, a pizza oven, skateboard racks and a trophy cabinet. I also have some experience with paving, having paved bricks and undergone timber framing for pavers. A large scale personal project I have helped complete with a family member was the building of Sheds, Decks and Fences. Professionally, I have undergone work placement with Falkner Construction. On work placement I was engaged in roofing, deck building, house renovations, rebuilding the Boyer Oval Grad Stand, demolition, tiling and building a new floor.

Customer Service Experience

I have worked for the Tasmanian Racing Club on the Hobart Cup and Derby Day (2018-present). Within these customer service oriented roles I have gained skills like communication, punctuality, and stocking fridges. I also have my RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) which is the course needed to serve alcohol.

Personal Interests

In my spare time I enjoy football for the Claremont Football Club, camping, motorbike riding, fishing and spending time with my family and friends.
