  • HIPPY is a two-year home interaction program that works with disadvantaged/ migrant families in Mount Druitt to support children’s learning as they prepare to transition into school
  • This role allowed me to work closely with over 15 families and provided excellent professional training and development opportunities
  • It’s a community engagement program federally funded by Uniting for 2770 postcode
  • Key Responsibilities: Attend weekly home visits with families to role play and support parents in understanding child development
  • Prepare and host fortnightly group meetings with families incorporating intentional teaching strategies for both parents and children
  • Work closely with families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, often in their own language to ensure they can advocate for themselves and their children
  • Refer families in a supportive and culturally sensitive way to other services in Mount Druitt including women’s health services, child screening programs and other family services
  • Be part of the larger community collective in Mount Druitt committed to early intervention of vulnerable children including information around NDIS pathways
