  • I gave birth to my daughter in 2020, (during the peak of Covid) and ever since I have been looking after her by myself being a working mother in Sri Lanka & a stay at home mother (and a student in early childhood) after arriving in Australia in 2023.
  • Upon making my exit from the corporate career, I started the Masters in Early Childhood Education to pursue my passion of becoming a teacher in early childhood inspired by my mother who was a pre-primary and primary teacher in Sri Lanka.
  • Due to my quest of learning and the genetic influence (as I come from a family of teachers), I have shadowed my mother during her teaching practices which helped me in return to learn best practices of reflective practitioners.
  • I was involved in preparing the curriculum, where I developed deep understandings about contemporary issues and the impact of socioeconomic factors, inclusive teaching practises about diversity, social justice, childhood health and well-being, languages of children and the list goes on.
  • After becoming a mother, I got the privilege of putting the best practices into real life practise with my daughter.
  • Understanding the importance of early childhood learning from birth to five years, I was able to implement a daily routine since 3 months old (which immensely helped me to manage my career as a working mother), subtle way of initiation of communication and speech, engage in physical activities, emotional and social activities through play based learning eventually leading to exploring her cognitive domain, and making the child ready for school after five years.
  • Therefore, I have wholeheartedly discovered that this is my passion and I surely can contribute to the community by creating a reciprocal effect on my learnings to help little ones to think, play and grow and also to shape their hearts with a good value system.
