Teaching Accomplishments

International Study Tour

Successfully organised two International Hospitality Study Tours to China - Changzhou.

  • 2018 & 2019 I took eight students to Changzhou where they worked in the Marco Polo Hotel, in both front and back of house roles.

Annual Paddock to Plate Luncheon

Introduced and coordinated Beenleigh State High School's Annual Paddock to Plate Luncheon

  • 2015-2019 I trained and prepared our students to participate in a large scale three course luncheon held at our schools multi purpose area.
  • The meat served was grown on the schools' farm. The animals were processed and the meat aged at our local abattoir, Teys Beenleigh. Our students who were completing their traineeships at Teys assisted in the processing of the meat.
  • Worked closely with Celebrity Chef Matt Golinski to finalise the menu and ensure our kitchen had the correct equipment and ingredients to prepare his menu.
  • I worked with local community businesses to showcase as much local produce during the event e.g. Hammel's strawberries, Poppy's Chocolate, Teys Beenleigh Branch, Beenleigh Rum, Rathdowney Oils, Gotzinger Small Goods.
  • In 2019, we had grown the event, from 90 guests at 50/head (2015) to 270 guests at $150/head.

All Schools Touch Football

Reinvented the All Schools Touch Program at Beenleigh State High School.

  • 2016-2019 I organised our schools participation in the All Schools Touch Football Competition and took five teams each year. Prior to these events in term four, i worked with a passionate group of teachers to create a positive school culture around touch football.
  • In 2019 our senior students obtained their level one referee qualification and officiated at the competition, most taking this qualification to local touch competitions and gaining casual employment.

State Finals - Rugby League (Girls)

  • 2018 - 2019 I created and ran the first girls Rugby League Academy Class at Beenleigh State High School. My teams placed third in QLD, two years running. We beat strong rugby league schools like Kebra Park & Marsden High School to secure our spot at the state finals. To date, this is the best rugby league achievement at Beenleigh State High School..
