Regarding my background in Ha Noi Viet Nam, I graduated with a bachelor's law degree from Hanoi law university in 2019. When studying law, I want to learn about Vietnamese law because it would be an effective tool to protect people and my relatives. While I was in my sophomore year, I had an opportunity to participate in a Student-research competition and got 3rd prize. After that, I applied for three months internship in the Bao Lam law office. There, I got a lot of experiences, such as witnessing people who received the death penalty from judges because of drug trafficking or murder, etc. After several cases like that, I realized that these actions' roots come from poverty. After graduating, I immersed myself in law to take the law master examination to expand my knowledge. I also worked part-time as an English teacher for children, which allowed me to observe children's behavior and help them fix their negative personalities, leading them to immoral behaviors when they grow up. Last year (2022), I had a chance to live in an international pagoda in Loei City in Thailand for nearly ten months. I lived with Chinese, Thai, England, Vietnamese, and Lao people with a wide range of ages from below 18 to above 80 years of age; however, most of them were unfortunate. Some people suffer from domestic violence, which makes them think of committing suicide. Unfortunately, I could do anything without listening to their sharing. It is my turning point. I decided to apply for social work in Australia to learn effective methods to help people instead of just listening to their stories without doing anything.
My current major now (law) and social work has a connection. A law major teaches me how to research and approach national and international policies via circulars, decrees, regulations, conventions, etc. At the same time, social work would help me make the most of these policies to assist disadvantaged groups.
Regarding my previous job, my duty was teaching children how to pronounce English words, use grammar and help them improve their speaking skills based on Gape-seed program.
I am deeply fond of this job as I have an opportunity to work with children, which helps me hone my patient skills as well as my teaching skills.
