I am a new graduate. The past few years of my nursing education have been filled with beautiful, stressful and memorable teaching and clinical experiences, especially in the clinical setting. I have been able to experience nursing in the community setting, surgical, gastroenterology, NICU, general medical, cardiothoracic and urology and ICU wards, where, I have been able to participate in different clinical activities. I believe my strengths are in communication and using it to develop my assessment skills. I have been able to care for multiple patients under supervision, demonstrate the ability to complete patient assessments, and use them to formulate a plan and enhance documentation skills.
During the first six months of new graduate program, professional goals will be improving time management skills. This goal will be achieved through critical thinking via time prioritisation, delegating some tasks and minimizing or avoiding distractions. I would plan to achieve this goal by using daily shift planners to plan my shift at the start of every shift to keep me on track, so that I will not end up rushing at the last minute or leaving some tasks undone. At the end of each day, I will check my shift planner to see if I was able to complete all the tasks that were due to be completed on my shift. I will also work with a buddy nurse who I will ask for feedback.
