Nicholas Sanderson

Law Graduate and now Lawyer for Sparke Helmore Lawyers, specialising in statutory insurance with particular expertise on workers' compensation.

In this role, I have gained experience representing employers, insurers and self-insured corporations in the management and defence of a range of claims. My experience has primarily involved:

1. Personally managing a caseload of up to 40 files with day-to-day responsibility for these files.

2. Providing formal and informal legal advice to clients with respect to pertinent legal issues, claim strategy, and assessment as to quantum and settlement.

3. Appearing before the WorkCover WA Conciliation and Arbitration Service, including directions hearings, conciliation conferences, pre-arbitration conferences, and arbitration hearings.

4. Appearing before the District Court of Western Australia in common law disputes.

In this role I primarily worked for the estates litigation team, whereby I undertook the following roles:

1. Undertaking legal research.

2. Preparing briefs to counsel.

3. Attending Supreme Court hearings to support my supervising solicitors.
