YOUTH ADVOCATE: TOORAK BLUES RUGBY CLUB 2012-2017
Growing up in Charles Street, Toorak, Suva, Fiji, a neighborhood known for its challenges, I was fortunate to have the strong guidance of my parents and uncles, who emphasized the importance of education and staying on the right path. Recognizing the opportunities I had that many of my peers didn't, I felt a deep responsibility to give back to my community.
Driven by this commitment, I co-founded the Toorak Blues rugby team alongside my uncle, with the goal of steering local youth away from a life of crime and towards a brighter future. As a youth advocate and coach, I organized weekly training sessions, both on the field and in the gym, to foster discipline, teamwork, and personal growth. On weekends, our team competed in rugby tournaments, further building their skills and confidence.
To sustain our efforts, we engaged the community through fundraisers, ensuring that the team had the resources needed to continue thriving. This initiative not only provided a positive outlet for the youth but also reinforced a sense of unity and purpose within our neighborhood.
My experience with the Toorak Blues has been a powerful testament to the impact of mentorship and community involvement, shaping the lives of young people and helping to create lasting change.

Diploma in Counseling Student – TAFE, Australia. (2023)
Five years ago, I relocated to Australia and began working various jobs, but my passion for helping others led me to pursue formal education in community service. Drawing from my personal experience back home in Fiji, where I cared for my younger sister who has delayed milestones, I felt a strong calling to deepen my knowledge and skills in this field. Enrolling at TAFE was a pivotal decision, driven by my commitment to making a difference and the hope that, one day, I can bring my sister to Australia to provide her with the best possible care and support.
Last year, I embarked on a diploma in counseling but had to pause my studies midway through 2023. Balancing night shifts at Amazon with daytime classes from 9 am to 2 pm became overwhelming, leading to challenges in maintaining my well-being. After much consideration, I made the difficult decision to withdraw from TAFE. However, I remain committed to completing my studies in the near future and continuing my journey in the counseling field.
Volunteer – Liverpool ANCF Youth Group
On weekends, I collaborate with the Liverpool ANCF Youth Group to organize food drives, where we distribute food and water to those in need within the community. Supported by donations from local businesses, our team sets up tables and ensures that the essentials reach the hands of those who need them most. This experience has deepened my commitment to community service and supporting those in need.
