Responsibilities:

● Nursing care for acute medical patient on interim care plan for investigation of presenting concern awaiting medical diagnosis with general patient cohort – seizure, TIA/Stroke, acute confusion, chest pain (non-cardiac), gastrointestinal bleed, syncope/collapse, DKA, PE, drug toxicity and overdose, eating disorder – refeeding syndrome

● Care across patient continuum – admission, assessment and care of deteriorating patient with MET escalation and MET participation, complex and rapid discharge within 48hrs presentation

● Provide leadership, direction and development to a team of RNs,ENs and AINs in the provision of patient holistic care to varied acute medical patient

● Administer medication; engage with doctors, manage documentation and report concerns to CN in charge –

IV infusion competence – iron infusion, magnesium infusion, blood and blood product experience

DKA competence – BGL and ketone monitoring with titration of insulin infusion – Statewide DKA protocol

● Telemetry – cardiac monitoring ● Provide activities of daily living (ADL) and support for patients with varying degrees of physical and cognitive capacity, ensuring they are treated with the utmost dignity and respect

● Engaging within a multi-disciplinary team and family members to ensure best practice and patient needs are met

● Palliative nursing care ensuring patient care and family support is provided – ARP and end-of-life care experience

● Critical thinking skills and assessing deterioration of a patient

● Precepting, mentoring and facilitating new staff and students within the ward and fellow new staff members ● Digital ieMR proficient – digital hospital program and experience with IT systems within healthcare including; RISKMAN, Trendcare, HBCIS, EDS

Responsibilities

• Assist the patient to perform and maintain his/her activities of daily living
• Key nursing -assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care and updating the families
• Admission procedure and nursing assessments
• Carryout intravenous infusions, injections and blood products administration by following Sterile Techniques
• Management of PICC lines,tracheostomy,PEG feeds,intercostal drainage etc
• Wound dressings including VAC dressings
• Participate in wide quality improvement, health Infection control programs
• Maintain the living environment to an acceptable standard
• Work as a member of the team providing care to clients
• Adheres to nursing procedures according to the policy of the hospital
• Planning of nursing care and administration of medicines at scheduled time
• Prevention of Nosocomial infections so that the customer receive high standard nursing cares
• Care of dying patient and urinary catheterization

• Acute management of patients with MI, CHF, IHD etc
• Cardiac Monitoring and ECG taking of patients
• Preparation of patients for ECHO Cardiogram and Tread- Mill Test
• Assist the medical team with Temporary Pacing
• C-PAP & I PAP Ventilation
• Cardio version & Defibrillation
• Management of patients with Pleural Effusion and Lumbar Puncture
• Immunization
• Mandatory Training -fire safety, infection control,BLS,manual handling, drug calculation, hand hygiene, falls prevention, aggression management, blood transfusion safety
• Early recognition and management of acutely ill patients
