Work History
Project Leader (Electrical)
Epiroc Innovation & Technology center
Bangalore, Karnataka, India
11.2019 - 03.2025
EV Charging Systems – Kempower based solutions
Acted as the global electrical lead for Epiroc’s EV charging systems (Kempower based), managing chargers ranging from 40 kW mobile units to 600 kW high-power systems, including up to 300 A air-cooled charging posts (CCS1 & CCS2) and 400 kW liquid-cooled solutions (CCS2).
Supported installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting across global sites, working closely with field engineers, customers, and OEM teams.
Prepared engineering documentation including SLDs, electrical schematics, external connection diagrams, parameter lists, and BOMs (Teamcenter), and managed ECN/CR processes and firmware/hardware releases.
Developed test plans for firmware and hardware validation and coordinated testing activities in Sweden (Kvantorp test mine) and Canada.
Supported system integration and commissioning activities, coordinating with OEM (Kempower) and internal teams, and contributed to maintenance planning for mining applications.
Contributed to electrical design and grid integration, including custom transformer cabinet solutions for North America, adapting to 600 VAC (Canada) and up to 1000 VAC supply conditions, and supporting AC/DC cable sizing as per IEC/CSA standards.
Led global field issue resolution and root cause analysis, addressing critical issues such as high pin temperature (de-rating strategies), power module failures (cooling and maintenance optimisation), power limitation and output oscillation (transformer sizing and grid strength), as well as CP signal noise, network integration challenges, diagnostics limitations, and parameter configuration gaps, improving system reliability and serviceability.
Mine-Ready Charger Development (IP67 / IK11)
Contributed to development of 400 kW mine-ready EV chargers using modular architecture.
Designed and supported transformer cabinet integration, charger cabinet layout (component placement, routing), AC/DC cable sizing, schematics, and BOM.
Supported electrical integration of the thermal management system (TMS), including supply requirements, cable routing, and control box placement, and coordinated with CFD/FEA teams by providing required inputs from OEM (Kempower).
Collaborated with mechanical team, FEA & IED for enclosure and system design.
Next Generation Proprietary Charger Development
Contributed to development of Epiroc proprietary EV charging systems, transitioning from OEM to in house architecture
Involved in dynamic power distribution design evaluation and bi-directional power module integration.
Engaged in concept design, participated in architecture discussions, and contributed to R&D reviews while supporting test plan preparation and charging cable selection.
International Projects & Substation Experience
Supported electrical studies for OppCharge (pantograph charging) under the European Union NextGen SIMS project
Contributed from the charger side to system concepts, coordinating on communication and control interface integration
Supported integration between pantograph system (Wabtec) and charging infrastructure
Worked in Canada on YellowCube substation (13.8 kV / 600 VAC) including SLD preparation, electrical schematics, cost optimisation, and FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing)
