Summary

I am completing my professional experience internship at Ashdale Secondary College, where my teaching philosophy centres on creating a safe, purposeful, and positive learning environment that supports every student’s success.

At Ashdale, I am immersed in the LEARN and GROW instructional framework, which unifies effective teaching practices across the school. This approach fosters collaboration among educators, promoting consistency and quality in teaching while supporting diverse student needs.

A core component of LEARN and GROW is Collective Teacher Efficacy—the shared belief that educators, through teamwork and persistence, can significantly enhance student outcomes, especially for disadvantaged or disengaged learners. This commitment to collaboration, resilience, and student-centred goals aligns with my teaching philosophy and strengthens my dedication to fostering a classroom where all students feel capable, confident, and motivated to achieve their best.

During her tenure at STEMSmart (previously Fire Tech Australia), Noor has been an exceptional colleague and role-model, both to her students and her peers. Noor has demonstrated a passion for education that has elevated the classes she has taught under our employ. She has shown a natural ability to adapt lesson plans to her classes’ needs and has consistently gone out of her way to create positive and engaging learning environments. Noor is the only STEMSmart tutor who has arrived at a class ready with her own stickers and rewards.

STEMSmart’s primary focus lies in digital technologies. In her time with STEMSmart, Noor has proficiently taught products and skills such as TinkerCAD, MakeCode Micro:bit, and digital photography. This has provided Noor with a unique skillset that she will someday take into classrooms and schools. Having studied education myself, I can confidently say that Noor’s experience in the Digital Technologies and Design and Technologies curriculums will greatly surpass most of her peers.

Noor is a reliable and capable person who I would gladly recommend for any education setting. Her perspective and input have had a visible impact on how we deliver STEM education as a company.

Kind regards,

Joshua Guy

As an experienced Educator and Conference Accredited Trainer (CMS) at Hampton Senior High School, I have had the pleasure of supporting Noor throughout her Term 3 Teaching Practicum. Although I was not Noor’s Mentor teacher during her time at Hampton, my Year 7 English class had been allocated to her for the course of her Practicum.

During her Practicum, Noor composed herself in a professional manner and formed a positive rapport with both her students and supporting staff members in the English Department. Although she was only at Hampton for a short period of time, she already developed a strong connection with her students.

Noor and I regularly engaged in reflective conversations about the teaching profession, her teaching practice, the curriculum, administrative responsibilities and behaviour management strategies. We regularly discussed practical tips to incorporate into lessons to minimise disruptive behaviours so that an optimum level of active participation could be achieved. In addition, we also discussed appropriate lesson design features incorporating clear lesson objectives and success criteria into the first fifteen minutes of each class.

Noor listened attentively to all recommendations and support offered to her. She was appreciative of all feedback offered. In fact, Noor even engaged in a formal coaching session with a focus on CMS strategies. It has been rewarding to see Noor’s confidence grow in the classroom and her optimism and charismatic personality will be missed at Hampton by all. Noor would be an asset to any organisation and I wish her every success for the remainder of her studies.
