Began at the ORCS workshop Nelson Point for a few days learning about ore cars, brake testing and components change out such as CCD and emergency control portions, also testing and maintaining ECPB cables making sure the cables are in good working condition, re assuring IDM’S are in good working condition, Conducted same type of work at Mooka ORCS workshop. Conducting Field Leaderships such as Take Time Talks (TTT), Plan Task Confirmation (PTC) and Critical Control Observation (CCO).
Moved to the examiners changing of batteries on ore cars, knocks from changing ore car shoes, CCD units, Electrical testing of ECP cables and changing IDM’S due to failure on ore cars, making sure they are in good working condition, safety is crucial due to working on potential moving plant, making sure isolation is in place with three step on the Locomotive and locked out to prevent any stored energy and Locomotive movement. Safety is the most important part of the job and being sure there are no Rollingstock movements use the 3 step and someone in the Locomotive cab.

Began as part of a team maintaining GE Evo Locomotives such as 13, 26 and 52 week service works from traction motor change outs inspections and slip disc brushes change over and Calibration of brake valve switches, also assisted mechanical fitters in their services such as filter changes and water pump change out installation of new data and regular inbounds. Worked with wagon service team by running wheels when required changing wheel sets and brake adjustments assisting knuckle change outs and replacement of wheel bearings.
