I have worked at Crown Realty International in the holidays department for almost 3 years. In that time, my role has developed from operations at a casual level to Head of Maintenance as a full-time employee after 7 months.
In my time as Head of Maintenance for the holiday department I have managed over 170 properties across 3 cities (Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast) and trained and managed 4 staff members who developed into my assistants.
Through this experience, I have developed a keen proficiency in communicating with owners, investors, trades, tenants and body corporates. I have been able to identify and schedule working days for; not only myself, but my assistants, based on urgency and difficulty.
My profession demanded efficient and productive use of my planning skills in order to project manage larger maintenance items in a timely and costly manner in order to achieve the best outcomes for my owners.
As a manager and mentor, I was required to develop my critical thinking for more complex items and guide staff members through obstacles and challenges in order to complete tasks and help them grow.
Additionally, my role in the department required me to temporarily run the department when my manager was away or on holiday. In these cases, I would run the department for weeks and address unsettled owners and utilise conflict management strategies in order to mitigate issues.
