After growing up in Canberra surrounded by and visiting cultural institutions, Olivia Pereira aspires to work in museums and cultural institutions. Olivia volunteered with the Museum of Australian Democracy and accepted a position as a Casual Museum Experience Officer, where she currently works. Olivia completed two internships in her undergraduate degree with the National Museum of Australia and the University of Canberra's Campus Estate. Now, Olivia is studying for a Master of Museum and Heritage Studies at the Australian National University with a specialisation in museums and collections. Olivia aspires to be assistant curator in a museum with a focus on Australian social and cultural history. Olivia has been accepted to do the 2024 Open Palace Programme to England and was awarded a scholarship of 500 Pounds to go towards the Programme.
Olivia will be participating in the 2024 Open Palace Programme in Late June of 2024 to England where Olivia and other selected students will be visiting National and World Heritage Sites in the UK. There she will meet with heritage professions who will be showing her their work, sites and related collections.
