After growing up in Canberra surrounded by and visiting cultural institutions, Olivia Pereira aspires to work in museums and cultural institutions. Olivia volunteered with the Museum of Australian Democracy and accepted a position as a Casual Museum Experience Officer, where she currently works. Olivia completed two internships in her undergraduate degree with the National Museum of Australia and the University of Canberra's Campus Estate. Now, Olivia is studying for a Master of Museum and Heritage Studies at the Australian National University with a specialisation in museums and collections. Olivia aspires to be assistant curator in a museum with a focus on Australian social and cultural history. Olivia has been accepted to do the 2024 Open Palace Programme to England and was awarded a scholarship of 500 Pounds to go towards the Programme.

Accomplishments

- For the first project, Olivia conducted visitor surveys for the Audience Research Department by approaching visitors and asking them questions to assist the Museum
- The second project, Olivia evaluated the National Museum of Australia's online collection of coronavirus and bushfire related material and suggested improvements.
