Work History

Carpenter Foreman

Fulcrum Building and Construction Services
03.2022 - Current

Over the Last 3 Years I moved into a site Forman role with the company, leading teams of carpenters on several jobs all over Sydney.

During my time as site foreman, I was responsible for the day to day operations on the job. Creating week to week task lists for the carpenters, measuring and ordering materials, organising and booking in all other trades, measuring structural steel work to send off for fabrication as well as working closely with clients and architects in meetings on a weekly basis.

I operate as a very much hands on foreman, I really enjoy being on the tools and mucking in with the boys, for me this is as important as project managing because I believe that physically doing the work gives you a greater understanding of the job, where you're at and whats coming next.

Notable jobs I worked on as site Foreman:

Woollahra kitchen and back living area Reno:

demo of existing kitchen into a new, stepped down kitchen/dining area that opened up into a tiled outdoor entertaining area. 3 months

(see attached photos)

Whale Beach:

This job took place over 18 months and was a 3 storey knock down rebuild with a pool and granny flat located behind the main house above a cliff face. The total project cost was just shy of $2 million. (see attached Photos)

Mosman 2nd floor addtition:

This project involved building a modern upstairs master bedroom/parents retreat up out of an existing terracotta tiled roof. This involved nearly 3 tonne of steel work craned in and precisely placed over a newly renovated kitchen/living area to support the floor and structure directly above.

A pool and surrounding deck was also built in the back yard.

The skylights you will see in the attached photos were designed by myself and fabricated by a local aluminium fabricator. It was my solution to achieve a look at a third of the cost as opposed to involving multiple trades. Once fabricated and powder coated the install time of each tube was approx 20 minutes

Mosman project: 10 months

Carpenter

Fulcrum Building and Construction Services
01.2019 - 03.2022

After completing my apprenticeship I continued to work for Fulcrum full time as a sole trader.

During this Period I worked under multiple foreman at the company on many different projects over Sydney from the inner west to the northern beaches.

The work varied from internal renovations to knock down rebuilds, all for 3 of our main architects so the style and design changed from job to job keeping things interesting!

I love being part of a tight knit team and each job usually comprised of a foreman, 2 carpenters and a labourer. With as many as 6 jobs going at any one time I got to work alongside many different personalities and people with a large range of skills.

This period allowed me to hone my skills in all areas of Carpentry and have a bloody good time doing so.

Carpenter Apprentice

Fulcrum Building and Construction Services
01.2016 - 01.2019

I started my Carpentry career at the beginning of 2016 with the same builder I currently work for today. Throughout the 3 years of my apprenticeship I worked predominantly in the inner west areas of Balmain and Rozelle on large, architecturally designed, residential construction projects.

Due to the nature of these areas, much of the work involved restoring heritage listed cottages that made up the front part of the houses before moving on to the modern extensions and structures out the back of the properties.

Much of the restorations included refurbishing old sash windows and tasks like milling our own weatherboards with a rough saw blade to match the saw marks on the 150 yr old boards.

I count myself extremely lucky to have been involved on this type of work so early on in my career as it gave me a great appreciation for different timber species and methods of construction from old to new.

Royal Marine Recruit

British Navy
03.2015 - 06.2015

In 2015 whilst living in England, I enlisted in the Royal Marines, a branch of the British Navy. I spent 3 months in basic training where working in small teams was necessary for survival out on training exercises and while handling small arms and rifles. After 3 months in basic training I was medically discharged after a historic ankle injury returned.

Welder/Metal Fabricator

White Cross Ring Co.
06.2014 - 03.2015

While I was living in England for two years, I worked in a medium sized commercial fabrication firm owned and operated by my family members.

It was here I was taught how to weld, bend, press and turn metal in multiple different fabrication purposes.

I own a very portable stick welding machine that's always in the back of the ute and has helped me out of a few tricky situations in the past!
