Survey Support Officer – Surveying Services (Full Time)

I am currently a Survey Support Officer in Surveying Services. My role is to support the team in all aspects including technical surveying work like field support and plan validation to HR and management support. I have also had the opportunity to act in the AO5 Senior Project Officer role for 4 weeks in 2022 and in 2023.I enjoyed this development opportunity and was able to learn many aspects of the Senior Project Officer role over this time. Some of the functions I perform are:

  • Business Plan reporting each month – Collaborating and co-ordinating Managers
  • Adding information into the Business Plan Tool
  • Following Departmental Procurement Frameworks and keeping up to date with changes of Procurement Procedures Maintain understanding of SAM processes, Survey Plan processing and Auditing
  • Attend Formal Workshops and Seminars to further learn about Surveying Industry
  • Update Role Profiles to support Senior Staff in Recruiting, Ability to utilise the SAP Finance Use of Expenseme PRO to pay invoices and rectify payments Use of the travel booking system CTM to book travel and accommodation for staff Ability to update travel and accommodation at short notice using CTM or by calling/emailing the appropriate Department
  • Continually updating knowledge by communicating with staff and senior officers Helping in the field with Surveyors to mark points on upcoming Survey Plans Use of corporate card to purchase items for myself or other survey staff when needed Following the correct procedures for purchasing including obtaining approvals and keeping with procurement legislation Auditing Finance and Cost Codes for areas of Survey Services Coordinating training for staff Participated in MECS general user awareness session Update, cancel, obtain new phones and mobiles through QSS

Business Support Officer – Customer Service (Full Time)

I joined the department as a Business Support Officer

This role was a great introduction to the department, systems and processes. I was quickly promoted to higher duties as the AO3 Team Leader and enjoyed leading the team. The role had a high level of Customer Service and functions including:

  • Servicing clients and their requests via email, phone or in person at the counter Receipting of products and services with Land Accounting Inventory System (LAIS), Automated Titles System (ATS) and Cash Desk
  • Accurate Cash handling, daily balancing and banking of all monies receipted, Cancelling Receipts in LAIS and recording information Use of departmental databases including LAIS, ATS, Smart Map Information Services (SMIS), Queensland Valuation Sales System (QVAS), and Qld Globe
  • Conduct Workflow duties such as Document Management Reports, Batching Details, Scan Batched Dealings, Batch Destruction, Registered Plans and Certificate Titles Cancelling Receipts in LAIS and recording information Incoming and Outgoing Mail
  • Entering Incoming Mail with payments to the Monies by post register

Full Time Team Leader/Assistant Restaurant Manager (Fairfield)

I used my experience at Grill'd Townsville to develop my Customer Service and Team Leader Skills. I became Team Leader/Assistant Restaurant Manager after a short time and ascertained many skills including:

  • High level of Customer Service – including Service of Alcohol in line with RSA, Waitressing and Cleaning of Restaurant and Equipment
  • Food Preparation and correct handling of items in accordance with Food Safety including stock rotation and delivery of goods
  • Training of staff in correct food handling and preparation and accurate use of cash register and EFTPOS machines.

My time at Townsville City Council (TCC) was a great experience for me. I joined originally as a Trainee Library Assistant after working in Hospitality and gained full time employment in 2009 (see below). I took every opportunity to further my skills in these roles and learnt many different skills that have continued through my career.

A key achievement was to become proficient in TCC's Library Management System - SPYDUS Other functions that performed in these roles include:

  • Daily response to customer enquiries via phone and emails with high level of customer service
  • Collate and create daily e-Toolbox message for all Library staff
  • Manage and respond to customer requests in Library Inbox in Outlook and Library Management system SPYDUS
  • Process Contract Milestone Claims for Library Bookvote funding through CES Contract Officer
  • Raise purchase requisitions, order stock and goods receipting in CES TCC Employee
  • Manage meeting room bookings with internal and external clients
  • Raise invoice requests for meeting room hire through Property & Rating
  • Raise Internal work requests or work orders through CES TCC Project Administrator for building maintenance
  • Register documents in ECM
  • Create correspondence using TCC templates
  • Portable & Attractive Items register – create new, transfer, terminate and audit the Library's items
  • Assist in the public area of Library with customer requests etc., when required during high demand times
  • Create/and update work instructions/ procedures
  • Use of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Exercise responsibility WHS, EEO, Anti-discrimination, Record Keeping and Privacy obligation

Permanent Customer Service Officer/Library Assistant (Full Time)
