As IT Service Owner, I am responsible for managing the full lifecycle of Digital Banking services, from development to implementation and ongoing support, ensuring they are aligned with business needs, scalable, and consistently meet high performance standards.

Commonwealth Bank Career Summary

  • (Nov- 2009) Joined as Delivery and Integration Manager, overseeing the integration of online banking's (NetBank) heterogeneous technology stack, transitioning to a homogenous .NET platform.
  • (July-2012) Appointed Online Banking Service Manager, where I managed IT services and financial oversight of the bank’s online retail channel , with an operational budget of $23 million.
  • (May-2016) Over time promoted to Senior Service Manager and my responsibilities expanded to include Mobile Banking (CommBank App), the CommBank public website, Digital Platforms (AWS, Azure), Open Banking, and other critical digital assets.
  • (Aug-2018) Promoted to IT Service Owner and led IT governance over teams and key service providers, managing hardware and software lifecycle activities. Collaborating with enterprise and solution architects, senior leaders, and delivery teams on strategic planning and execution, enhancing system resilience, and driving continuous improvement across the bank’s digital platforms.

Key Achievements:

  • (Nov-2009) Promotion to CBA after successfully managing the Development & Support portfolio of a major subsidiary bank in New Zealand (ASB Bank - see below).
  • (2010-2011) Successfully established processes and ensured seamless integration of Online Banking's heterogeneous technology stack (Java and .NET).
  • (2012-2014) Delivered a number of key initiatives/projects around systems availability and resilience. Successfully achieved 99.99% average monthly availability targets.
  • (2016-2018) Successfully oversaw major infrastructure uplift programmes resulting in tripling the web and app tier capacity to cater for the growing online usage.
  • (2017) Established a high performing outsourced team providing 3rd level production application support across key Digital Banking assets.
  • (2018-2019) Successfully challenged the status quo and established a hybrid IT support model to cater for the Agile delivery methodology in Digital. Resulted in a cost saving of $2.2 million a year.

Key Achievements:

  • Key role in restructuring Institutional Banking Solutions division in order to align with changing business environment as well as changes in wider bank.
  • Delivered number of key projects notably - solution for emailing corporate clients whenever large debits/credit hit their accounts, extended use of BI tool (Cognos) to other business departments (e.g. Finance, International Trade), and completed re-architecture of bank’s AIX platforms.

  • Reporting to Head – Enterprise Solutions, managed team of Application Specialists and Administrators looking after wide range of enterprise solutions covering Fonterra’s web delivery infrastructure, as well as key legacy solutions used in manufacturing
  • Also had overall responsibility for delivery team specialising in integrations consisting of web Methods System Administrators and support staff.

Key Achievements:

  • Enhanced adoption of ITIL framework.
  • Developed and implemented processes for deployment, systems maintenance, and reporting.
  • Acting General Manager - Production Support (June – December 2006). Overall accountability for all system production support functions across Fonterra reporting into CIO.
  • Identified five key initiatives predominantly in areas of configuration management that formed part of IS Business Plan for 06/07 financial year.
  • Reorganised project leadership of troubled project - DVR (Dairy Vertical Replacement) Project – resulting in successful implementation of project and sponsor satisfaction.
  • Developed IS Application Administration OPEX budget culminating in formation of 06/07 financial year budgets across three systems administration teams.
