Summary

With 13 years of dedicated service to the state of New South Wales, as a trade-qualified Overseer and Correctional Officer at the South Coast Correctional Centre. In October 2018, I was appointed to this current role as Senior Overseer with Corrective Services Industries (CSI).

During this tenure, the focus has been on enhancing various skills essential to improving the position. Concentrating on strengthening CSI’s Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) standards, and training staff to confidently and effectively act into a higher capacity, during annual leave or absenteeisim. Drawing on extensive experience as a qualified spray painter and foreman in the industry, Successfully integrating these skills to maintain a professional, safe, and productive business unit.

By combining expertise from Corrections, CSI, and the industry, I have been able to achieve operational excellence while fostering a culture of inclusion and diversity within the team. As a strategic supervisor, Ability to prioritis projects, planning workflow, and managing employees to achieve both short-term and long-term operational goals. With 13 years of active duty, managing efforts within deadline-driven environments, I am a resourceful individual capable of adapting to evolving challenges.

My leadership style is characterised by diplomacy, strong decision-making skills, and a commitment to upholding policies and procedures. I take pride in being part of a team that not only ensures compliance but also fosters a supportive and collaborative environment.

Work History

Senior Overseer

South Coast Correctional Centre

  • Build on various skills to fulfill the roll, concentrating on CSI’s Quality Management System, WHS and staff training This is measured by results of audit results, including 500 review and QMS audit. I am able to complete this and maintaining professional, safe, and productive business unit that encourages inclusion and diversity within our team that believe in the policies and procedures.
  • Managed maximum-security workshop with up to 45 offenders where I am responsible for providing safe purposeful day and involving offenders in CSI work program.
  • Leading my team and ensuring empowerment to fill all aspects of their roll and mine when acting into higher duties.

Overseer PSBU

  • Certificate III in Correctional Practice, achieving class award. Graduating June 2011.
  • Manage maximum security living areas (up to 58 offenders) and encouraged all offenders to attend work locations while maintaining safe and secure environment.
  • Overseers are responsible for maintaining secure, compliant living area, safe and secure workplace, working closely with Senior Overseer to achieve purposeful and productive days.
  • Successfully worked in numerous areas across South Coast Correctional Centre, in both Custodial and Overseer posts.

Workshop Foreman and Spray Painter

  • Responsible for workshop productivity, delivery time frames, training apprentices, order and accountability for stock and product and fulfilling a spray painters roll
  • Some key achievements were bringing the paint shop to a profit for the first time in a long time (as stated by the managing director) this was achieved by using product knowledge, less material and producing higher quality finishes. Also leading the entire workshop as the foreman and beginning my journey as a workshop manager.
  • I was also being trained as a manager of the branch (as agreed to early 2011) which involved customer liaison, completing initial estimates, learning the online quoting system and delivering customers cars.

  • After completing my apprenticeship early due to being signed off as competent a few months early I ventured out to other repairers gaining valuable experience in various fields of the repair industry.
