Peter Julian Tanti

Electorate Officer
Melbourne

Summary

As someone who has always been interested in online trends, movements and creative content I have recently become driven to use these interests to learn skills to be more involved in a progressive left movement in an online setting. Since completing university in 2013, completing both a Bachelor of Arts and a Diploma of Education, I worked in retail, gaining experience in customer service while also working in a fast-paced environment which gave me the necessary skills to successfully undertake the role of a Community Action Network field organiser for the Labor Party in 2018, subsequently working as an electorate officer for Nina Taylor MP and Lee Tarlamis MP, having successfully built a style and image for the members online. The experience gained from previous roles has encouraged me to pursue this new role and expand on the skills I have and continue to build upon.

Field Organiser

Australian Labor Party

  • For the most part of 2018 I undertook the role of a field organiser for Labor’s Community Action Network (CAN) for the 2018 Victorian State election in the seat of Bentleigh. The role required me to recruit, train and schedule volunteers from a pool of Labor party members as well as non-party members for the purpose of building a network of volunteers for the re-election of the sitting state member.
  • As well as recruitment, the role required high levels of adaptable communication with all walks of life from the general public; whilst also dealing with various stakeholders within the campaign. This required the ability to foster new relationships with brand new and existing volunteers to build a successful team.
