I am writing to apply for the Disability Support Worker position. I bring over four years of hands-on experience supporting individuals with complex needs and high-risk behaviours, and I am passionate about providing safe, respectful, and person-centred support.
Throughout my career, I have worked closely with individuals presenting with behaviours of concern, including aggression, self-harm, emotional dysregulation, and trauma-related responses. I am experienced in implementing behaviour support plans, following restrictive practice guidelines, and applying de-escalation techniques to maintain safety while preserving the dignity and rights of each individual. I consistently work within organisational policies, duty of care requirements, and relevant legislation.
I have strong skills in building trusting relationships, recognising early warning signs, and responding calmly under pressure. I collaborate effectively with allied health professionals, families, and team members to ensure consistent and holistic support. Accurate documentation, incident reporting, and reflective practice are key parts of my approach, and I take pride in maintaining high professional standards.
