Work as a labour and delivery nurse since 27 th April 2013 to May 2023.
• Trained to monitor and assist in labour and delivery.
• Assess, plan and evaluate patient care needs before and during pregnancy including obtaining patient history and assessing for labour risk factors.
• Care for patients requiring fetal assessment and fetal monitoring on land or water deliveries.
• Provide support for mothers during labour.
• Provide maternal nursing care to active labour patients and early labour patients.
• Deliver care to labouring women of term and preterm gestation.
• Assess and document physical condition of mothers and babies and assist doctors in identifying and treating pre-eclampsia.
• Explain and demonstrate post-natal care to parent of newborns ,answer questions and address concerns.
• Assist doctors in deliveries and support and encourage mothers during child birth.
• Discharge mothers and babies after guiding through at-home care and follow up care.
• Brief next shift nurses thoroughly on condition, status and needs of mother and newborn.
• Respond to emergency situations with speed, expertise and level headed approaches to provide optimal care, support and life saving interventions.
• Helped patients and families feel comfortable during challenging and stressful situations, promoting recovery and reducing compliance issues.
• Advocate patient needs with interdisciplinary team and implement outlined treatment plans.
• Administer oral, IV and intra muscular medication and monitor patients having epidural anaesthesia.
• Monitor post-op vitals, fluids, review post-op orders and assimilate patients to unit.
