I'm was at the time and currently a full-time student at St Joseph's Catholic College in East Gosford.
I was looking for part-time work during the school holidays in 2023. I was fortunate enough to get an opportunity to work at Burnt Honey Bakery in Copacabana. At the time I was 12yrs old.
I was employed initially to 'run coffees and clear tables'. Soon after starting, I was given an opportunity to work back of house also. The back of house tasks included food preparation and assisting the bakers with whatever was required at the time.
Throughout my time at Burnt Honey I was lucky enough to work both Front of House as well as Back of House which enabled me to see both aspects of foodservice.
Running of coffee and pasteries enabled me to experience the customer service aspect. While working back of house I learnt the importance of teamwork as well as the effort required to transform raw produce into delicious meals.
