My personal travel experience expands across almost every continent and method of travel. I have slept under the stars and slept in five stars. I have flown low cost carriers and Q Suite business class.
I am ready to share the skills I have gained in a lifetime of travel with my professional career in business to provide a world of experiences to others.
Currently undertaking formal study (self paced) to officially learn what is required to be a successful Travel Partner.
To successfully continue to provide leadership to a service design business and complete my studies, the personal attributes that work in my favour and will also be benefit for you are:
Meld Studios is an award winning service design studio based in Sydney with a remote presence across the country.
I am the Business Lead for People and Culture.
Some examples of how this role can transfer to the travel industry.
"Working with the Board and Company directors to share insights from the business in order to shape the long-term People and Culture strategy".
In the travel industry this could transfer directly as I understand business, and realise that good travel agents are able to balance the needs of the business with the needs of the client to have a mutually beneficial outcome.
Happy clients equals more future business and this is no different to HR where happy employees provide extra effort.
"As a member of the Business Enablement Team, I provide daily input to our "Attracting Good Work" activities - this is a sales and marketing role to continue to fill our upcoming project pipeline"
This transferrable skills is all around being very comfortable in a sales environment and understanding that good service is the precursor to making a sale. No one wants to be treated badly then buy something from you. It's all about service first then the sales will come.
"The co-ordination of the travel arrangements for all internal gatherings where people are travelling from interstate several times per year".
This one is as close to the industry directly that my role gets. It's by no means to the professional extent of a travel agent, though still worth a mention.
"Technology galore! If you are not comfortable learning multiple technology platforms in a business role for a design agency, you simply won't succeed"
Nailing the GDS and other travel business platforms is exactly the same challenge and one that I am very comfortable stepping up to, though this is a recognised gap I want to fill with training.
In my world, the platforms I use daily are Zoom, Slack, HubSpot, Float, Google Suite, Employment Hero and full Microsoft Office Suite. Meld operates across both the Apple iOS and Microsoft platforms when required.
Travel is a change in direction for me as I begin to transition away from a long established career in Human Resources.
I have been privileged over my time to work for a number of interesting businesses and to continue to change and grow in the way people like to work.
The world of work has changed significantly over the past 15 years and I have enjoyed rolling with the changes along the way, though I feel it is now time to consider something new.
