• Hobart Private Hospital 2 weeks in day surgery and 4 weeks on the medical unit in third year second semester.

Over the course of my clinical placements I was able to consolidate my nursing knowledge by putting theory into practice. I was able to  refer back to the clinical reasoning cycle and then use reflective practice. Some skill I learnt were:

• Assisting residents with bathing, dressing, feeding, lifting and transferring.
• Assist Registered Nurses to develop and implement nursing care plans.
• Took and recorded patients' temperature, pulse and blood pressure.
• Skillfully performed suture removals for patients with the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Monitored patient reactions to drugs and carefully documented progress of individuals.
• Completed all daily living tasks to enhance the quality of life of patients
• Performed basic physical assessments; e.g. neurological.
• Administered medications with the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
