I am a dedicated healthcare professional with a decade of relevant experience in intensive/critical care and orthopaedic trauma settings in some of Australia's largest hospitals. Personal strengths include my interpersonal and communication skills, team leadership abilities, workplace versatility, and pursuit of continued personal development.
This role allowed me to combine a passion for nursing and education in a vocational setting through training and assessing Diploma of Nursing students. This was a new and rewarding experience for me outside of a hospital setting. I was able to use my extensive clinical experience to provide high quality training to students. It also furnished me with new skills and qualifications as well as the opportunity to lead and mentor a diverse group of students from the local community.
This role involved work in both Intensive Care and Coronary Care Units and responsibility for critically ill and unstable patients in a multidisiplinary team environment. This position required highly developed critical thinking and interpersonal skills, advanced patient assessment skills and frequent mentoring of student nurses.
This role allowed me to develop team leadership skills and build upon my foundational experience as a clinical nurse specialist in orthopaedics and trauma nursing.
This role allowed me to consolidate my experience to date, and pursue further study in order to make the transition to more senior nursing role. It allowed me to contribute as a member of a multidisciplinary team in a consistently challenging and high tempo setting.
This role allowed me to further develop my orthopaedic nursing skills for a short period of time in a regional setting.
This role was my first post completion of the graduate program and allowed me to consolidate learning, skills and experience to date in my career. It provided me with the opportunity develop in a high tempo, complex and challenging setting.
A 12 month graduate program which exposed me to numerous rotations such as palliative care, rehabilitation and orthopaedics in one of Australia's major trauma centres.
