As an experienced Advanced Trainee in General Paediatrics with a strong interest in Developmental Paediatrics, I possess the expertise to independently manage a wide spectrum of neonatal and paediatric health conditions. I have had the privilege of working closely with the Royal Children's Hospital in the Centre for Community Child Health (CCCH), where I have managed complex patients presenting with developmental and behavioural challenges. My experience includes adeptly overseeing the management critically ill children, always mindful of the importance of seeking guidance from senior colleagues when necessary.
Throughout my Advanced Training I have been known for my diligence and I advocate strongly for patients when the need arises, ensuring they receive the best possible care and support. I am enthusiastic about addressing inequities in access to medical services and strive to promote health equality across diverse backgrounds.
Feedback from my supervisors highlights my strengths in effective communication, respect for team dynamics, mentoring capabilities, and adept conflict resolution within teams.
I have completed all my Advanced training requirements with the plan to submit my Research Project this year or early next year.
Full time role working within The Centre for Community Child Health (CCCH) onsite at the Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) and in an outreach clinic in Western Melbourne. Extensive clinical experience was gained with supervision by experts in their fields in general developmental and behavioural paediatrics outpatient clinics along with more specialised clinics including the Behavioural Clinic for severe externalizing behavioural concerns, and the Sleep Clinic for specific developmental, pathological, and behavioural sleep issues.
Developmental assessment with consideration of the vast array of factors that influence progression and delay was an essential part of the position. Advocating for safe housing, involvement with child protection services, and navigating NDIS support was a vital part of the role, which required tailoring to each child's unique needs
The clinical work was supported by involvement in care teams to surround and support the children and their families as tailored to their needs. Nonclinical time was spent writing detailed and timely case notes, letters and reports.
Six months positions in the Neonatal Intensive Care unit at MHW and the Paediatrics Department at WMH. Both remarkably busy units.
The Mercy Hospital for Women is a tertiary Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with over 450 births per month along with incoming Paediatric Infant Perinatal Emergency Retrieval (PIPER) retrievals. I gained extensive experience in resuscitation and stabilisation of term and premature infants in the delivery suite, including at the very edge of viability. Involvement in family discussions relating to extreme prematurity and zone of parental discretion and re-direction of care for extremely unwell infants. I was also involved in the entire spectrum of neonatal health, managing well neonates on the Post-Natal Ward and mildly unwell in the Special Care Nursery.
Werribee Mercy Hospital Paediatric Unit has a 12-bed inpatient Paediatric ward, 16 cot Special Care Nursery, busy Paediatric Emergency Department and Daily Outpatient Clinics. I worked well within a dynamic team to manage the variety of presentations to a mixed paediatric department. A notable success was successfully leading the team when an extremely premature baby was born unexpectedly in this peripheral hospital who required extensive resuscitation.
Successful completion of all core advance training rotations including General Paediatrics, Paediatric Emergency, Rural training at Bendigo Health and Developmental and Psychosocial training with a mixed rotation of experience including CAMHS Sunshine, Refugee Health Clinic at IPC Health's Wyndham Vale Super Clinic and Behavioural Assessment Clinics at JK WCH.
Diverse knowledge base with extensive training in general paediatrics, neonatal medicine, paediatric emergency management and outpatient clinics. Gained considerable experience in the management of seriously unwell children prior to retrieval.
