Summary

Philosophy: Students need teachers that care. Teachers must care about students, about Curriculum and about Pedagogy. I have worked as a Teacher's Assistant, an award-winning Class Teacher, The Dean of Students and Head of Department (permanent). These roles have required, and allowed, for me to develop into a teacher that passionately cares about educational and life outcomes for all students.

  • I have spent the last two years as Head of Department for Years 5/6 and Specialists at Varsity College. While this is an incredibly fulfilling, challenging and satisfying role, I have taken leave from my HoD position to give me the opportunity to get back into classrooms, to do what I love: teaching children.
  • In my HoD role, I developed deep knowledge of The Australian Curriculum (Versions 8.4 and 9), effective pedagogical approaches (Explicit Instruction and Inquiry), as well as leading whole school change in both agendas.
  • My time as Dean of Students at Varsity College also afforded me the opportunity to develop my ability to implement firm but fair behaviour management approaches, as well as quickly build rapport with students, colleagues and community members.
