Communication skills

Recognised ability to communicate with a range of individuals from different cultures and backgrounds. Demonstrated through my time as a disability support worker, where I have developed the ability to listen to others and understand different perspectives. My ability to communicate has helped me greatly in this role by allowing me to clearly and confidently communicate in a range of different ways with clients and other staff members. 


Teamwork

Having the competence to interact and cooperate with each person committed to working towards a shared goal. Demonstrated through my time working as a disability support worker, which has taught me the great importance of teamwork. I am consistently and effectively collaborating and coordinating with clients, other staff, parents, and medical professionals to provide for individuals with disabilities. 


Ability to plan and organise

During my time as a disability support worker, my ability to plan and organise has helped me to complete tasks accurately, avoiding costly mistakes. I often have the responsibility to plan and organise countless different things. These include organising doctor’s appointments, medication, shopping tasks, and the coordination of social events.


Problem solving skills to develop solutions

Being able to utilise personal skills such as research, creativity, communication, decision-making, and analysis to solve problems and develop solutions. Demonstrated during my time as a disability support worker, where I have found myself in many difficult and stressful situations where I have competently used problem-solving skills to calmly and effectively develop the best possible solutions. 


Ability to use computers and technology

Confidence in using Google programs such as Gmail, Sheets, Docs, Classroom, Meet, and Drive. I have learned how to operate these programs confidently while completing my HSC. My skills in using these programs developed significantly when I had to participate in online learning in 2020 due to COVID 19. 


A desire to learn new skills and knowledge

I've never been an individual who wants to stand in one place. I've always had the desire and readiness to acquire and develop new knowledge and skills. I wish to be more qualified and keep up with modern trends and tendencies.
