Working as a Farm Hand on on our Family Farm my duties Included:

Crop-Related Duties

• Planting and Cultivating: Sowing seeds, planting seedlings, and preparing fields using machinery or hand tools.
• Crop Maintenance: Weeding, hoeing, and pruning trees and vines.
• Harvesting: Picking, sorting, and packing fruits, vegetables, and grains.
• Pest and Weed Control: Applying pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers.
• Irrigation: Operating and maintaining irrigation systems.
• Field Maintenance: Mowing grass, assisting with baling hay.

Livestock-Related Duties

• Feeding and Watering: Providing food and water to animals daily.
• Animal Health: Monitoring livestock, tending to newborns, and assisting with lambing.
• Animal Husbandry: Drenching, dipping, and shearing sheep.
• Mucking Out: Cleaning animal pens and operational areas.
• Mustering: Moving and herding livestock.
• Milking: Assisting with the milking of cows, goats, or sheep.

General Farm Maintenance & Equipment

• Equipment Operation:
• Driving and operating farm vehicles like Mowers and Quadbikes.
• Infrastructure Repair:
• Maintaining and repairing fences and farm buildings.

General Labour:

• Performing various manual tasks and ensuring safety standards are followed.

As a Plumber's Trades Assistant my role was to provide general and skilled support to licensed plumbers by preparing tools and materials, maintaining a clean and safe worksite, assisting with installations and repairs, and performing manual tasks such as digging and carrying supplies. My key duties included: loading and unloading equipment, helping to install pipes and fixtures, assisting with digging, and ensuring the work environment is tidy. I also attained a Certificate II in Plumbing and a Construction White Card.

Key Responsibilities

• Site Preparation and Maintenance: Loading and unloading materials, equipment, and tools, and keeping the work area clean and organized.
• Assisting with Installation: Helping to assemble and install piping, valves, fittings, and fixtures like toilets, sinks, and sprinkler systems.
• Material Handling: Transporting materials and equipment around sites.
• Manual Tasks: Performing tasks such as digging holes, laying pipe, and carrying out general labouring duties.
• Worksite Safety: Complying with workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements and assisting with the maintenance and tagging of equipment.
• Supporting Plumbers: Acting as a direct assistant to a licensed plumber, following instructions, and ensuring they have the necessary resources for the job.

• My responsibilities were to help out the workers with jobs like cleaning up, grabbing/carrying necessary equipment required for the job. I got taught many things in a short time and I enjoyed the time I had.
• Assist Tradespeople: Support qualified tradespeople with their daily tasks, including maintenance and operational duties on worksites.
• General Labouring: Perform manual labour tasks such as loading and unloading materials, cleaning work areas, and setting up equipment at the start of the day.
• Equipment Maintenance: Help with the maintenance of tools and machinery, ensuring they are in good working condition for use.
• Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
• Ad Hoc Duties: Assist with various tasks as assigned by supervisors, which may include cleaning, painting, and site inspections.
