· Develop and implement annual business plans for the Parks, Gardens and Natural Resources teams and Roads, Roadsides and Cleansing teams.
· Ensure that all Parks, Gardens and Natural Resources teams and Roads, Roadsides and Cleansing team’s council action plan activities are completed by the due date.
· Develop, submit and implement annual operations budgets for the Parks, Gardens and Natural Resources teams and Roads, Roadsides and Cleansing teams.
· Develop, submit and deliver Parks, Gardens and Natural Resources teams and Roads, Roadsides and Cleansing team’s capital and operating budget projects.
· Prepare and submit budget variations for the Director of Planning and infrastructure’s approval as required.
· Provide a quarterly Parks, Gardens and Natural Resources team and Roads, Roadsides and Cleansing team report for the Director of Planning and infrastructure.
· Provide a high level or responsiveness to customer action requests to ensure that target deadlines are met as specified.
· Comply with Council’s policies and operating guidelines.
· Motivate, lead and encourage staff to achieve their full potential and provide opportunities for staff to develop a broad range of skills and knowledge.
· Actively participate in risk management practices and ensure that a strong safety culture is created within the Parks, Gardens and Natural Resources teams and Roads, Roadsides and Cleansing teams.
· Fulfils the roles and responsibilities of the Municipal Emergency Resource officer (MERO) or any other such position as determined by the council’s Municipal Emergency Management Plan and undertakes all duties assigned to the role as set out in the Emergency Management Manual Victoria (EMMV).
· Prepare, evaluate, recommend and report on quotations and tenders for the provision of goods and services.
· Prepare reports for executive, councillor briefings and Council as directed.
· Prepare, monitor and review current and forward capital works and maintenance activities and resources for the Parks, Gardens and Natural Resources teams and Roads, Roadsides and Cleansing teams to ensure that the teams assets are developed managed and maintained to support the operations and strategic needs of the Wodonga City Council.
· Provide and coordinate expert advice to Council on all aspects of the role.
· Assist in the assessment of development and building applications to ensure compliance with Council’s development guidelines and standards and regularly undertake site visits and inspections to ensure public open space works are carried out which adhere to accepted standards.
· Attend or be represented at practical and final completion Inspection site visits to ensure that acceptable work standards have been met.
