In this role I have to service and maintain a fleet of 10 Volvo FM12 heavy vehicles, 1 Caterpillar and JCB front end loaders, 12 4x4 light vehicles and 9 diesel generators and all reload equipment. This role also involves me carrying out hydraulic repairs/services on the blasting vehicles, welding and fabrication of parts when needed, electrical fault diagnosing and carrying out routine hydraulic pump rebuilds.
  • This position comes with a lot of responsibility as the nature of the company is to haul and load holes with explosive products. This means acting and working in a professional manner. It is essential that I carry out all work as safely and efficiently as possible so not to have an impact on Orica's blasting schedules. It is also vital to report to the supervisor of any scheduled maintenance or repairs that need to be undertaken.

  • The position came with a lot of responsibility as I represented the company whilst on site. This meant acting and working in a professional manner and keeping the costumer happy at all times. This was due to the company headquarters being based in Mackay which also meant I had to organise parts and schedule all servicing/repairs to be done onsite. I had to make sure all relevant paper work was filled out and all invoices were written up after each job.
  • It was essential that I carried out all work as safely and efficiently as possible so not to have an impact on Orica's blasting schedules. It was also vital to report to the supervisor of any scheduled maintenance or repairs that needed to be undertaken.
