Work History

Boilermaker Apprentice

NATRAD
03.2022 - Current

I’ve been working at natrad for almost 2 years so far I’ve learnt how to tig weld won’t say I’m the absolute best but I’m pretty good with it I can also alloy tig weld, mig weld, I’ve done a fair bit of arc welding and flux core welding at tafe Victoria university. With the fabrication side I’ve learnt how to read simple drawings (haven’t come across complex drawings as of yet but willing to learn it) but I’ve learnt on how to make up custom radiator tanks, alloy fuel tanks and I’m trying hard to improve myself everyday because I love the trade I’m currently in and I just want to work for a company that’s higher up in the boiler making industry working on bigger jobs as this is what I would enjoy doing.

  • Improved communication abilities through regular interaction with supervisors, colleagues, and clients on various projects.
  • Demonstrated versatility in various welding methods including MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux Core Welding techniques.
  • Clamped, held, tack-welded, heat-bent and bolted component parts to achieve required configurations and positions.
  • Prepared welding equipment to perform advanced welding work.
  • Optimized material usage by accurately measuring and cutting required components prior to welding.
  • Chipped off excess weld, slag, and spatter using hand tools.
  • Cleaned material surfaces to remove dirt or excess acid using chemical solutions, wire brushes and grinders.
  • Prepared for assembly by positioning, aligning and securing parts using tools such as jigs and vises.
  • Measured and cut metal pieces to correct length and angle to attain proper fit and alignment of pieces.
  • Welded metal components in vertical, overhead (have done a fair bit of over head welding at tafe with mig, tig, stick) and flat positions.
  • Maintained safety by wearing protective equipment, staying alert and following procedures.
