• Maintain an awareness of operational goals & direct the activities of shift personnel to achieve those goals
• Liaise with & direct Control Room Process Technician/Field Process Technician to carry out maintenance on equipment as required
• Provide assistance to shift personnel with Start-Up & Shut-Down of operational equipment
• Control, as Permit Authority, all aspects of work in the Permit to Work Procedures
• Maintain & update, as Permit Authority, the Work Permit Register
• Monitor & control all personnel movements within the Permit Area
• Monitor & review routine Operational Logs as prepared by shift personnel
• Maintain a clear & concise chronological record of operations status & activities in the log book
• Monitor the standard of housekeeping in the Permit Area to ensure that a clean & safe working environment is maintained
• Carry out competent handovers of Plant Operational status at times of shift change
• Direct Plant Activities involved with ship/shore product transfers in liaison with Loading Master
• Coordinate daily, weekly & monthly Operational & Safety Inspection Routines as per checklists
• Raise, review Work Order requests to identify & initiate repair of equipment & plant defects
• Initiate Maintenance call-out for immediate repair/rectification of plant defects as required, maintaining safe Plant Operation
• Prepare P & ID’s & Control System Change Requests, identifying potential improvements to Plant & Equipment
• Authorize & coordinate Operations Activities requiring hardware isolations
• Represent Shift Operations at daily Maintenance Planning meetings
• Liaise with Laboratory personnel in relation to routine & special sampling & testing of intermediate & product streams
• Undertake responsibility for the site outside of business hours
• Organize shift coverage during periods of unplanned manpower shortage
• Make operational decisions for the plant to ensure safety & integrity is maintained

• Participate in planning & developing Emergency Response for specified Emergency scenarios
