This role includes the removal of existing stumps and footers, placement of temporary supports, and installation of new stumps. This is high risk work, which requires excellent communication skills and team work to ensure the safety of all on site. As a team we determine a clear plan at the beginning of each day and re-assess as the job progresses to ensure we are all still working safely and effectively.
It is a physically demanding role and can be extremely fast-paced, and I have found that keeping physically fit and healthy makes this easy to manage.
The skills I have learned during my time with Austump (strong work ethic, communication, teamwork, and exceptional customer service, among many others) will be transferrable to my new role.

The role included ensuring player safety and monitoring on court actions addressing any violations promptly. I had to uphold high standards of sportsmanship by consistently exhibiting impartiality during games. It was important to have strong relationships with fellow referees to connect effectively through teamwork to officiate games. We would have to collaborate with scorekeepers to maintain accurate records throughout each game, ensuring proper scoring procedures were followed according to league regulations. In spare games and free time I assisted in the development of younger referees through mentoring initiatives.
