Kitchen Hand
- I say kitchen hand, but at this point, the bakery was missing a chef, so it was a bit more involved than just doing prep day-to-day. There was also the ordering of food, stock take, coming up with new foods and flavors to put out, and all that jazz that goes with cooking and the production of food in a kitchen. This gave me good skills that could be applied to many jobs, such as learning how to manage time, keeping a good, consistent pace, and working under stress while still maintaining a positive attitude, and keeping a clean and organized space. I also worked in many other jobs, like landscaping, little bits of construction, festival work, and cooking in a kitchen for catering, where I was a waiter. I started babysitting at a young age, around 15-16, and even had a short stint as an electrician's helper, not an apprentice, as I was still in school at the time and completing the first certification for electrotechnology at TAFE (that's the course to become an electrician). I also had a little side business of sharpening knives, which is a passion of mine. I have had around 10 paying clients, as well as friends and family for free.
