Work History

Police Officer

WAPOL
Perth, WA
02.2005 - Current
  • Currently I am part of the Youth Diversion Unit where I attend and co-facilitate Family Group Meetings across the Perth metropolitan Youth Justice offices.
  • Quality control all Juvenile Justice Team referrals statewide and metropolitan Juvenile Cautions.
  • I have been acting Senior Sergeant for the Diversion Unit for the last 18 months, overseeing five staff members, managing rosters, required training, submitting weekly time sheets, equipment maintenance and checks, and external agency correspondence.
  • Prior to this, I was part of the Traffic Investigations Unit for three years. This involved receiving multiple files and investigating serious traffic breaches. Interviewing offending drivers, and completing all relevant paperwork preparation for court.
  • I spent 18 months at Major Crash, attending serious and fatal crashes statewide, investigating, and prosecuting offenders. I was also required to engage with witnesses and family members of victims of crashes and prepare detailed files for the State Coroner.
  • I was a Traffic Enforcement Officer for five years, conducting patrols throughout the metropolitan and regional areas. This role required the issuing of traffic infringements and dealing with the general public. The ability to communicate and engage with people was a very handy skill I developed during this time.
  • After graduating from the Police Academy, I spent six years at the Cannington Police Station as a general duties officer. There, I dealt with a range of incidents and offenses, including thefts, assaults, and domestic violence matters.
