I am currently employed as a Senior Leading Hand with Cushman & Wakefield Facilities Services Australia (C&W). In my role, I am responsible for developing quotations and managing projects that may include multiple technicians, contractors, and suppliers. The scope of work ranges from changing residential door locks to completing full refurbishments of commercial properties. Most recently, I project managed some installation works for Metro North and have developed some familiarity with working with Queensland Health, expectations, and have adhered to stipulated health directives.
Part of my role is also to coordinate service delivery by managing a team of technicians of multiple trades, providing advice and support as required, to ensure the completion of scheduled projects. I regularly undertake inspections of premises and provide detailed quotations, work recommendations, and project coordination to completion. Undertaking risk assessments and upholding safe work standards are essential parts of my role.
In addition, there are multiple internal processes requiring computer literacy and significant administrative skills to ensure all documentation complies with all required standards (compliance, invoicing, scheduling, and maintaining all relevant records).
Prior to this role, I was self-employed for 10 years, running a carpentry and maintenance business. Whilst not formally qualified, I am an experienced carpenter and have extensive knowledge and experience across most building services (residential and commercial), as well as providing quality quotations and successful completion of projects. I do have a Welding certificate and a demonstrated history of working with factory plant equipment.
I am well versed in the legislated requirements of the building industry and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements. I have also completed Asbestos training and keep up to date with industry developments.
Throughout my working history, I have demonstrated an ability to engage with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders. I am experienced in working with people of all backgrounds and have a great understanding of vulnerable communities’ specific needs, such as disability or multicultural backgrounds.
Whilst working with C&W there have been opportunities to act in short-term, skill development roles such as a Facilities Manager with Suncorp, and Operations Manager, Cushman & Wakefield Asset Services, West End. These roles, as well as my current role, have included managing day-to-day situations, coordinating 24-hour services, supervising the delivery of the project, and coordinating tradespeople, monitoring projects against budgets, and ensuring timely completion of works (preventative and planned or emergency response).
I am competent in multiple work-specific platforms, as well as Word. I am a quick learner, love a challenge, and am confident I will be successful in learning any new system required.
