From learning most of my tac tics and management skills through Middleton structures I wanted to enhance into a bigger role (my own business) this was the first business I ever attempted to start.
I teamed up with one of my good friends who I met earlier in the year who is a qualified joiner & plasterer. We figured it would be a good idea to try and set something up for ourselves , APS Ltd was a renovation company based in the United Kingdom and my main role was to pull in the work and single handily manage the projects we had , whilst my business partner who was at the time on the tools by himself.
As we got a few projects out the way we began to sublet some work out until work became really quite and we decided to make the move to emigrate.
From joining Middleton structures I considere myself very fortunate as this position taught me and moulded me into a large proportion of who I am today.
I joined as a project coordinator and my main duty's was just mainly , ordering materials, checking stock, picking & dropping items off etc. I was mainly doing this for the first 4/5 months when I began to progress in the role and prove my worth.
When progressing in the role and proving my loyalty & commitment to my boss he then offered me more responsibilities and chance to progress to a higher level which then I became a project manager.
When I became a project manager I had to step up a lot, I then became to start running and managing my own projects , deal with problems on site, site surveys, meet time schedules , guide the site engineers through drawings etc. At the start I found this very difficult but as my confidence grew I then became to take on more and more work down the line such as , sales, teams meetings, winning work.
After going straight from school into college studying a bricklaying level 2 course I then went off to finish my final year in a apprenticeship on site learning all aspects of brickwork, blockwork etc. when I first joined CMR I was mainly labouring for bricklayers as this is a good way to get you started & learning on how things should be set out and what it's like on site on a day to day basis.
As soon as I finished my qualification I soon became to drift away from wanting to be a bricklayer and went to Persue a career in something else.
