This exciting position operates from Marlungku-Kari Child and Family Centre and will play an important role of facilitating activities that supports confidence and information to mothers and carers to raise their children to be healthy and strong. some duties will include are not limited to:
- Plan, develop and implement culturally responsive education sessions to educate parents and caregivers on prevention of SUDI, SIDS and fatal sleeping accidents.
- Increase opportunities for parents and caregivers of infants to have access to activities which develop social networks including participation in activities which aim to increase their knowledge and skills in parenting.
- Build family capacity by using partnership, strengths-based and family-centered approaches.
- Support and assist clients who have been affected by SUDI and SIDS to develop self- confidence, achieve self -reliance and seek help.
- Increase the capacity of the community to respond to infant parenting issues and liaise with relevant community services and health providers.
- Assist with community driven activities and projects that promote community participation enhance parenting experience and meet program objectives.
- Participate in Marlungku-Kari CFC staff meetings and staff development.
- Ensure continuing quality improvement with the implementation of standards and best practice frameworks through monitoring, review, and reporting.
- Develop resources for supported groups and home visits.
- Resource and support parents by referring families to the Marlungku-Kari Child & Family Centre where additional support is required.
- Collaborate with the Manager regarding Risk Management
- Manage part-time staff. children, adults, families, and communities in regard to SUDI, SIDS and fatal sleeping accidents.
- Demonstrated experience in providing education and support to communities in SUDI, SIDS and fatal sleeping accidents.
- Demonstrated high level ability to manage the priorities of multiple tasks and competing deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously to fulfill the goals of the project and effectively work as a team to contribute to the Marlungku-Kari CFC and continued success.
My current position requires me to work with community members in Tennant Creek and out on communities. I am required to work with many different stakeholders including the Midwife Group, Early Childhood Providers and sections within Anyinginyi such as the Nutritionist.
I have actively participated and supported many community events which allow me to provide valuable information to everyone, supporting the development and needs of our children aged 0-5.
Patrolling Tennant Creek and Community Living Areas (Town Camps) to increase personal and community safety, by diverting people who may be under the influence of alcohol or other drugs and to prevent crime and violence.
Caring and supporting children who had been taken into care from Territory Families.
This position required me to work with children who had suffered trauma and needed caring and nurturing while in this environment.
I enjoyed this position and left to have my second child.
This position required me to work with youth of all ages at various times of the day and night, providing activities to stop boredom and risk behaviors.
This position was located at Ali Curung Community. I learnt a great deal from this position, such as working in a team and meeting the needs of community.
My position with TIS, was required similar activities and responsibilities as listed above.
