A state of the art quaternary public hospital campus including the main Fiona Stanley Hospital tower with 18 theatres and over 22 wards on nine levels, an education building complete with replica wards and a large tiered lecture theatre, a separate mental health building,] the four-storey State Rehabilitation Service building, a pathology building, an administration building and two multi-storey public carparks. Most of the 640 patient bedrooms in the hospital are single bed ensuite facilities, with less than 10% accommodating two patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Executive Leadership of the Facility Management Subcontract (FMSC) for the Fiona Stanley Hospital, Serco Asia Pacific’s largest operational contract
  • Oversight of the day-to-day operational delivery of 25 nonclinical service lines, through approx
  • 980fte and 200+ subcontractors with an annual revenue

of approximately $170million.

Highlights:

  • Successfully negotiated a 6-year extension of 21 of the service lines (4 transferring back to the client as part of an election commitment).
  • Significantly improved stakeholder relationships between Serco, the Contract Management Team and the Health Services Executive at FSH.
  • Improved staff engagement to 75% participation and 75% engagement over 18 months through a range of key activities targeted at improved communication, transparency, trust and visibility.
  • Developed and led a highly functioning Leadership Team
  • Negotiated and resolved several significant dispute items
  • Developed and implemented a robust Subcontractor Management Framework
  • Successfully implemented the Time2Work workforce management software

The Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH) is South Australia's flagship hospital, providing a comprehensive range of the

most complex clinical care to an estimated 85,000 inpatients and 400,000 outpatients each year. 800 beds and

40 operating theatres are included at the 3 city block site.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership of the successful mobilisation of the Facility Management Subcontract of the Project Agreement for the new Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH) PPP Contract, the largest contract ever won by Spotless ($3.2billion over 30 years). Hospital Move completed Sept 2017


Highlights:

  • Successfully demobilised the current RAH contract whilst concurrently mobilising the new RAH PPP contract (including an overlap of at least 12 months)
  • Managed complex relationships and advocated for the FM Subcontractor throughout all aspects of Design and Construction, to optimise the Facility’s Lifecycle and Preventative Maintenance handover
  • Developed the fifteen Service Lines including the recruitment and training of approximately 750 personnel
  • Led the implementation of the Spotless provided technology solutions including Automated Guided Vehicles, Inventory Management System, Meal Management System, Computer Assisted Facility Management System, Electronic Security Log, Building Information Management System and Call Management Systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Southern Adelaide Health Network CEO, providing highly effective leadership and communication across complex site services
  • Ensuring effective day to day operational site management and strategic leadership of Flinders Medical Centre and associated contracted services across multiple sites
  • Ensuring robust delivery of Financial, Business and Human Resource Management (Annual Budget $550 – 600 million)
  • Leading and ensuring the provision of a highly effective workforce management of approximately 7000 FTE across SALHN
  • Leading site preparedness for accreditation (National Health and Safety Quality Standards)
  • Ensuring collaborative and effective working across the co-located Health Services and Flinders University Medical School and Research Facilities (including Animal House).


Highlights:

  • Delivered year on year reduction in expenditure
  • Effectively managed organisational change and significant site redevelopment including the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit and 12 Operating Theatres.
  • Successfully commissioned and opened the Flinders Centre for Innovation in Cancer in conjunction with the FMC Foundation
  • Successfully delivered 10-15% improvements on key performance indicator improvements for Elective Surgery and National Emergency Access targets year on year through a range of initiatives including Operating Theatre List restructure and implementation of the Medical Assessment Unit
  • Co-ordinated and implemented the SALHN portfolio of improvements related to the Monaghan Review of Emergency Access (FMC ED attendees 75k and Noarlunga Hospital ED 60k)
