Aim to incorporate contemporary psychology and previous experience into providing advisory services regarding case management, and employee relations to resolve arising issues in the workplace. Support the Organisation in developing practices to ensure a safe workplace where clients feel supported to engage with the Workplace relation team.
Supervise Medical Orderlies in Wards and Departments and allocate Medical Orderlies to Wards and Departments as and when required.
• Liaise with senior ward nursing staff to determine and review patient needs.
• Respond to all Emergency codes; and assess and act according to Hospital Policy Guidelines.
• Maintain the departmental electronic database for work statistics and shift reports.
• Prepare and present written electronic reports on relevant matters for the Manager.
• Monitor staffing establishment levels which includes the re-allocation/call-in of staff due to unplanned absences.
• Participate in relevant Medical Orderly Quality Improvement activities and Performance Review and Development programs.
• Conduct on-the-job training, ensuring staff are instructed in the correct performance of duties including performance techniques and the operation of equipment.
• Provide occupational violence and aggression (OVA) education and training to support senior management, department heads, supervisors, and workers, including OVA training concerning patients and clients in various clinical settings.
• Coordinate and conduct the THS’ OVA program, including planning, implementing, and evaluating training sessions, in consultation with unit managers, senior clinicians, and workers to target areas of need.
• Travel to various health sites to provide specialist advice, and promote and educate new and existing staff on the OVA program safety standards and mandatory training compliance.
• Research analyse and report on a range of quantitative and qualitative information to support the planning, delivery, and review of OVA learning materials to ensure content applies to current organisational needs.
• Analyse and evaluate incident reviews and risk
• identification of OVA events.
• Attend code black calls and participate in the code black response, when available.
• Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation’s Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives and related training, ensuring that quality and safety improvement processes are in place and acted upon.
• Provide assistance to Medical, Nursing and Para Medical staff in positioning of patients by manual or mechanical means, including assisting in patient transfers, positioning and turning patients in bed.
• Provide transportation by means of wheelchairs, trolleys and beds to all departments within the hospital including the Operating Theatre, Radiology, Angiography and Day Procedure Unit when and as required.
• Assist nursing staff with patients to and from baths, showers and toilets.
• Assist with the control of difficult, aggressive and stressful incidents and situations.
• Provide a carry out service within the hospital and receive Dead on Arrival (DOA’s) in accordance with Launceston General Hospital Mortuary policy.
• Participate in Quality Assurance and training activities.
• Provide assistance to Security staff in maintaining a clear zone immediately surrounding the Helipad.
