- To start my career at JCB I began as a line feeder, where I had to deliver flat and pressed stainless steel parts around the factory to multiple bays which helped further my understanding of the manufacturing processes.
- As well as this, I spent a lot of time tapping and drilling parts using a variety of hand tools and equipment.
- After only three months I was promptly moved onto a Trumpf press brake where I was taught to: read and understand technical drawings; create and edit programs using numerical, 2D software; setting, maintaining and operating the press and how to accurately measure and check bent parts.
- After four months of operating multiple press breaks of different sizes I was then moved onto a Trumpf laser cutter to further develop my skills checklist.
- During this time I also picked up a variety of licenses for different equipment such as: a 7 tonne forklift, a 13 tonne side loader, a ppt and a walkie stacker
- In 2022 we brought in a brand new Trumpf TruBend 5230 press brake which I was elected to set up.
- I went through an extensive two week training course covering everything from operating, maintaining and 3D programming.
- It was my job to then program in the hundreds of parts we bend into the press ranging from small 1.6mm brackets to large 12mm roofs.
- Over the years I trained a total of 5 operators in programming, setting, maintaining and operating the new Trubend 5230.
